Services You Can Provide as Beginner Digital Marketer
6 min readWhen you don’t have any services to market, how can you start an agency?
Starting a digital marketing agency off the ground might be a daunting task. It’s even more difficult when you don’t feel like you have anything you can charge people for. So the idea here is to figure out a few services that are easier to pick up and understand so that you can pitch them to potential clients.
So, let’s get this party started. I’m going to provide you three services that you could start learning and mastering and then charge other people to provide them with these services. Organic social media management is the first service. When we say “organic,” we’re referring to the free posting you do. This is not a paid advertisement.
That’s a very different matter. Companies might be charged on a daily basis to administer their profiles. You name it: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and so on. Here are some reasons why this is a good choice.
First and foremost, businesses require it. Every business requires it. They all have (or should have) social media channels, and those channels must remain active with new content every day. As a result, they require assistance.
However, there’s a catch with organic posting. Wow, paid adverts as compared to things like false fade ads. I was going to mention sponsored Facebook advertisements, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. The pressure associated with organic posting is significantly reduced.
And the reason for this is that organic publishing isn’t always intended to make money. Its purpose is to keep the pages current and people interested. Paid advertising is intended to generate revenue. That’s why paid advertising is under a lot of pressure because if their clients don’t get a return on their investment, they’re in trouble.
There’s a lot less pressure with organic blogging. It’s something that businesses require. In comparison to something like paid adverts, there isn’t nearly as steep of a learning curve.
The second service you would want to explore is graphic design.
And, before someone jumps down my throat, sure, graphic designers do go to college to learn how to do this in some circumstances. They make it their life’s work to become amazing graphic designers. And that’s incredible.
We’re talking about ways to get started that are less difficult. And the reason I included graphic design on this list is that we now have a plethora of tools and alternatives for making graphics that are far more user-friendly than Photoshop. Photoshop is fantastic. It’s quite powerful.
However, learning and mastering it is extremely difficult. There is a significant learning curve. In my company, we utilize Photoshop, but guess what we use more often than that? Canva. Canva! Canva is one of our favorite apps.
Canva is something I use a lot more than Photoshop. Every single one of my YouTube thumbnails? Canva. They also have a big online design school that is both free and quite useful and cool. That’s something you should look into.
You may begin learning graphic design online right now for free. Logos, social media visuals, brochures, pamphlets, and PDFs can all be created. You have the ability to make anything. You have a lot of options and a lot of flexibility. Photoshop isn’t the only option. I understand.
Photoshop is a colossus. I can’t tell you how many times Photoshop has made me cry. It’s still a useful tool to master. It’s really powerful, as I already stated.
It’s been years since I’ve used it, and I’m sure I’ve only scraped the surface. But the point is that if you’re thinking about delivering graphic design as a service, you’re not limited to that. Okay, now for the third skill set.
I wasn’t sure what to label this because it was a combination of a few things. But I’m going to refer to it as “making online listings,” and I’ll explain why. A Yelp page is required for any business.
If they have a physical location, they should have a LinkedIn page. They require a Google My Business account. Online directories should include them. Many businesses overlook these details, or they have a Yelp page but haven’t claimed it yet.
You must claim your Yelp profile. These details are significant since they all serve as small indicators or hints to Google about a company’s internet presence. And the more of these you don’t have, the worse your internet presence will appear. Furthermore, businesses prefer that these listings and pages be available online because it makes it easier for potential customers to find them.
Consider how many establishments you’ve discovered and eventually tried as a result of a search engine such as Yelp. That’s something I’ve done a million times. So if you’re providing this as a service, if you’re producing listings, claiming Yelp pages, and setting up Google My Business profiles, you’ve got a good chance of bringing traffic to these firms. They’re going to make money off of it. So, yes, you can certainly provide this as a service.
You can find businesses that are either missing a listing or have yet to claim a page in a virtual directory. You can get in touch with them. You can say, “You don’t have these things, do you? Here’s why it’s causing you pain.” Then you might volunteer to help them out. It’s really simple to figure out how to claim those pages and create listings. Using a service like Moz Local, you may locate businesses that are missing these features. I understand how terrifying, intimidating, and hard it can feel to get your digital marketing agency off the ground.
Especially when you don’t feel like you have anything worth charging for. But there are two things to keep in mind. For starters, we all begin with nothing. We all start out with no idea what we’re doing.
It’s fine that we don’t have any talents. Second, you don’t have to be the world’s foremost expert on a service to begin charging for it. You’ll need to know more about the client than he or she does. That is all there is to it.
To be clear, you should not be satisfied with having a rudimentary comprehension of the talents you provide in the long run. It should be your goal to master those skills and become an expert in them. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m a student for the rest of my life. I’ve been doing this for over a decade, and I still attempt to learn new things about my area virtually every day.
And you’ll have to anyway because the digital world is always changing. As a result, you must keep up with it. But my point is that you don’t have to wait until you’re very, really good at something before you start charging for it. It’s likely that you’re getting in your own way up here, and you’ll never think you’re good enough to start charging for it.
There’s a hint of Imposter Syndrome going on there. Yes, learning takes time, but don’t put off taking action. You must understand how to get outcomes for your clientele. That’s where you should begin.
You’re ready to charge when you can start producing outcomes. Okay? Management of organic social media, graphic design, and internet listings You can start selling three services for your digital marketing agency right now. The learning curve is manageable, and these are things that consumers are willing to pay for.
Choose one of these. Don’t try to do all three at once. Choose one and get started establishing your agency right away.
